Being forced to take a break...

Sorry guys for my absence! I finally moved into the apartment and I didn't organise an internet connection yet, so I have to wait for next week when it will be installed so that I can finally write again. I still follow all of your blogs, as it is part of my work, but haven't been able to post anything yet. I've been making stuff so and even took some pictures, my garden is a very nice background. As soon as the place is a little bit more lived in and not so sparsely furnitured as right now, I'll also show you around the place. I feel very comfortable in the apartment and can't wait for my first visitors to come. And I'm planning little housewarming parties as well, so I'm really looking forward to that. So, stay tuned guys!

I've got a heart for crochet

Last night I found my small crochet hook while I was unpicking my stuff in the new apartment and then I remembered that I already cut a chain for a necklace that I wanted to make. I started and made simple stitches around the chain with green yarn and after a while I found that it was shaping into a nice heart shape, so I carried on working on the piece, made a second round with simple stitches again. Today I finished the project by adding two rows of pink stitches on the inside of the chain and voilá I'm finished. I dislike jewellery made of silver or gold, but this one I can imagine wearing with a simple t-shirt or blouse in white or black. I have some neon yellow and pink plastic cord that I once bought at the 1 € store and I'll try to turn that into a necklace as well. I'll keep you updated on that project, but I will only start it once I'm in the new flat which will be in about two days. I can't wait!

I put some new boots on...

Deichmann Boot with studs
These boots are the boots that I have wanted to buy for three years already. I have this strange gift when it comes to shoes - I always have these gorgeous shoes in mind or have seen them on net-a-porter.com that I would like to buy. Then I go to the stores and look for something that fits the bill (and my wallet) and what happens? I don't find anything that matches my expectations. But then after about two to three years, suddenly all the shops in my price range carry what I was looking for. So, usually I just got something else because I needed new boots, but this year I actually don't need anything. Anyway, I got the boots from Deichmann that you can see above. Originally I had my eyes on the Acne pistol boot, but being sold for 400€ it was out of my price range.

Görtz Pistol Boot

Then I found these at Görtz, I tried them on a couple of times, but at 99€ they cost still more than I would spend for a pair of boots. I tried to ratify a purchase with arguments like "I can wear them for years" but in the end I saved the money instead.

Having bought a black pair of boots in 2008 and in the beginning of 2012 I decided to get this brown pair of boots. I think it goes well with my planned Fall colour palette, which consists of earthy and muted colours.

Have you found the perfect boot yet?

Apartment Therapy

I always love to read about the cravings of others and so I thought about sharing mine now and again as well. Of course at the moment I cut back on clothing and fabrics for clothing and spend the money on pieces for my apartment. So this month my list is about furniture and decoration. Here we go:
1) The Rainbow Door Curtain would be great for my door to the kitchen. I'm thinking about removing the door so that I have more space for additional storage. With the curtain I could separate hallway and kitchen anyway.

2) Colourful bedding brighthens up every morning. This floral duvet cover from Urban Outfitters has a large size scarf print and the vibrant colours lighten up the mood instantly.

3) I'm uncertain about pendant lamps. Though I often like them I fear that they will be hanging in the way. Maybe I could position the light above a table, then it wouldn't be such a problem.

4) Cushions are so great to change the look of a room. They can be easily replaced and are so easy to sew, you can make different ones for the different seasons. This colourful floral one by Zara would look great with other plain pieces of furniture.

5) I love this chair! And the best thing? I got a chair in the same 60s style by my grandmother, it just needs a new cover and then it will look as dazzling as this 249€ one by Ikea. I'll document this upholstery project, as soon as I found the perfect fabric.

6) This bathroom rug is great to give colour to my otherwise white bathroom.

7) Maybe for the corridor? A simple lamp that looks better than the cellar-style one, which I use currently.

8) Okay, summer is over, but how cute would this light look on my terrace. Imagine long summer nights, sitting outside with candle light. Oh, I can't wait for the next summer to begin.

Me-made Mittwoch: Cord und Streifen

Ideas for the kitchen

This is the before picture of the kitchen. We already painted the walls and tomorrow the new floor will be installed. On the right you can see the sink, on the left there are a couple of hanging cupboards which are plain white. I want to have white as the base colour in the room and as an eyecatcher little accentuations in teal or a dark turquoise. I already got a strainer which has an awesome teal/turquoise color and I'm going to make all the other elements fit to the strainer. Good idea, isn't it? My brother had the idea to use some plastic film and put it in stripes on the cupcoards to spice them up. We could also add some spotlights underneath the cupboards and put a aluminium cover on the wall to give it a little bit of an American diner feeling. The view from the kitchen into the garden is very nice, so I only want to have curtains which cover half of the window. I have electronic blinds on the windows, so I don't need full curtains to make the room dark in the evening. On the right next to the boiler I'd like to have simple boards to put up spices and maybe store some of the kitchen equipment that one needs for cooking. The oven will be on the right behind the sink. I spoiled myself with an CERAN® glass-ceramic cooktop panel. the fridge will be at the position where I stood, when I took the picture.
Here are some of the fabrics, that I might use in the kitchen:
Teal cotton
Panama Cupcakes
Retro
Muffins
Stripes
Which one do you like best?
